You’ve found the perfect learnership. The company is legit. The stipend looks decent. But now you’re stuck on the most important step: Your CV.

Don’t stress. In this episode, we walk you through how to write a professional CV that gets noticed — even if you’ve never had a job before.

🧠 First, Understand What They’re Looking For

Learnership providers want someone who is:
    ✅ Willing to learn
    ✅ Reliable and punctual
✅ Able to work in a team
✅ Basic communication and problem-solving skills

You don’t need experience — you need effort.

📄 Structure of a Winning Learnership CV

Here’s a simple format to follow:

    ✅ 1. Contact Details

    • Full Name
    • Phone Number (active and always charged!)
    • Email Address
    • Home Address

Make sure your email is professional. Example: zanele.mokoena@gmail.com

    ✅ 2. Career Objective (3–4 lines)

“Motivated and disciplined young person seeking a learnership in Business Administration. Passionate about developing new skills and contributing to a team. Committed to learning and growing in a professional environment.”

    ✅ 3. Education

List your highest grade passed and any certifications.

Matric Certificate – Mamelodi High School (2023)
Subjects: English, Business Studies, Life Orientation, Maths Lit

Computer Literacy Certificate – Youth@Work Training Centre (2024)

    ✅ 4. Skills

Highlight relevant soft and basic tech skills:

    • Communication (verbal & written)
    • Microsoft Word & Excel
    • Time management
    • Teamwork
    • Conflict resolution
    • Bilingual (e.g., English & isiZulu)

✅ 5. Work Experience (if any – optional)

Even volunteering or helping at home counts.

    Cashier Assistant – Aunt’s Spaza Shop (Dec 2023 – Jan 2024)
Helped serve customers, stock shelves, and handle cash.

    ✅ 6. References

Add 1 or 2 people who can vouch for you.

Ms. Dlamini – Life Orientation Teacher
    071 234 5678

    Mr. Nkosi – Volunteer Coordinator
    072 345 6789

If you have no references yet, write: “Available upon request.”

    💡 Final CV Tips

    • Keep it 1 page (2 pages max)
    • Save it as a PDF, not Word
    • Name your file clearly: Thabo_Mpofu_CV_2025.pdf
    • Avoid fancy fonts, borders, or emojis

    🧭 Final Word

Your CV is your first impression — make it clean, honest, and focused. You don’t need to be perfect. You just need to show that you’re ready to learn and willing to grow.
