Tshwane 6 months contract
MIET AFRICA, a regional NGO, requires 48 HTS counsellors to work on the Adolescent and Young People Programme (AYP).
MIET AFRICA is a sub-recipient of NACOSA, a principal recipient of the Global Fund Grant for the grant period ending in September 2025.
Successful candidates will be based in the Tshwane district in Gauteng for the period of their contract.
Key tasks:
• Conduct advocacy to mobilize young people to enroll in the programme.
• Support the process of screening young people to identify their individual structural, behavioural and health needs.
• Support the development of individual service plans.
• Plan, organize and implement support programmes for young people aged 10-24 as per programme requirements.
• Educate clients on HIV and AIDS, TB, STIs, PrEP, and SRH services
• Conduct pre-test counselling, obtain consent for HIV testing, screen for TB and STIs, as well as conduct finger prick tests and post-test counselling.
• Refer and follow up on high-risk clients for further investigation and management.
• Ensure that all programme activities are documented and captured using the correct tools and through the biometric system.
• Ensure meaningful, effective, and timeous reporting of all programme activities.
• Maintain good relationships with stakeholders.
• Ensure allocated targets are met within specified timeframes.
• Work with the team and support them in their duties.
• Strict adherence to Department of Health (DOH) policies, guidelines and standard operating procedures(SOPs).
• Strict adherence to the organisation’s, NACOSA’s and the Global Fund’s policies, guidelines and SOPs.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the relevant manager.
Minimum requirements:
• Gr 12 or equivalent.
• Certificate in HIV Counselling and Testing.
• Current and valid accreditation from DOH for finger prick tests.
• 1-year proven experience in HIV counselling and testing services.
• Knowledge of sexual reproductive health and rights.
• Experience of working with young people and children.
• Good communication skills in local language and English (oral and written, including report writing)
• A good team player with excellent people skills.
• No criminal record or registration on any sexual offences register.Interested applicants should email the following to:
